Based on the 1996 JGTC & LE MANS R33 Nissan Skyline GTR , this mod will consist of 50 cars covering 2 classes, these will differ by horsepower and car model with class 1 having 500bhp and class 2 having 300bhp.

The project car " KURE NISMO R33 " Driven in the 1996 JGTC series by japanese racers Toshio Suzuki and Masahiko Kondou will provide the basis for this mod, although performance specifications of these classic era race cars is very hard to find the power and torque of these cars have been taken from actual 500 & 300 bhp R33 Skylines using the same RB26 engine thats used in the Kure ,kindly provided to us by owners from the nissan skyline owners forum when attending a dyno test meeting within the club.

Although the R33 was a formidable machine in its era, teams and liveries were very few and far between so we have decided to recreate real liveries and Nissan liveries that are authentic just not specific to the R33 , A full team listing per class is available here on the project pages.

The 1996 JGTC season was held over 6 rounds.

  1.round :    Suzuka - 300 kms Suzuka    
  2.round :    Fuji - All japan gt fuji          
  3.round :    Sendai - Hi land GT sendai
  4.round :    Fuji - Special GT fuji cup
  5.round :    Sugo - Sugo GT
  6.round :    Mine - Mine GT

The series consisted of the worlds greatest road car turned race cars money could buy , with names like Mclaren / Porsche / Lamborghini / BMW / Toyota / Honda / Mazda and of course Nissan and in this particular year joined by privateer Ferrari F40's.

As with most racing series of this type and era it was dominated by the Mclaren F1 GTR with them taking 4 of the 6 races to go on to win the championship ,Nissan however did manage to take one of the rounds from them with the Hoshino Racing R33 GTR winning round 4 at fuji.

The 1996 season was the first season to see the introduction of new rules consisting of thetwo classes GT300 & GT500 , pitstops and driver changes were also a compulsory rule for this season. All cars were configured as 2WD FR ( rear wheel drive ) The transmission was a sequential XTrac unit, The suspension was completely renewed , uprated from a multi link to ful ldouble wishbone set-up
